Metagenomics Across Time: From Ancient Pathogens to Modern One Health Surveillance

This keynote connects ancient disease landscapes with modern spillover surveillance through metagenomics and One Health approaches. Participants will gain insights into environmental sampling at high-risk interfaces and the genomic reconstruction of Africa’s ancient pathogens.

You are invited to attend the keynote lecture, From Ancient Pathogens to Modern Spillovers: Mapping Disease Landscapes through Metagenomics and One Health, taking place during the Metagenomics Workshop at CERI Stellenbosch University.

This hybrid event will explore how genomics connects our understanding of ancient diseases with modern surveillance of emerging pathogens—highlighting the power of metagenomics in tracing health threats across time and ecosystems.
