KRISP & Thermo Fisher Scientific complete their 5th STEM training workshop in Africa

KRISP partner with Thermo Fisher Scientific on an educational program in Africa. As part of this program we organized 5 training workshops on STEM subjects in 2018 and 2019, ranging from PCR, qPCR, DNA sequencing and bioinformatics techniques.

KRISP partner with Thermo Fisher Scientific on an educational program in Africa. As part of this program we organized five training workshops on STEM subjects in 2018 and 2019

The workshops ranged from RNA/DNA isolation, PCR and Sanger DNA Sequencing techniques. We are planning another 6 workshops in 2019. In total 128 students participate in this round of training.

- DNA Sequencing Fragment Analysis (i.e Microsatellite) Workshop, KRISP, Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine, UKZN, Durban, South Africa, 28-29 March, 2019

- Capillary Electrophoresis (i.e. Sanger Sequencing) Training Workshop, KRISP, Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine, UKZN, Durban, South Africa, 25-26 March, 2019

- Quantitative PCR (qPCR), KRISP and ThermoScientific Workshop, KRISP-Thermo lab, Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine, University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa, 4 October, 2018

- Sample to PCR Training Workshop, KRISP and ThermoScientific Workshop , KRISP-Thermo lab, Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine, University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa, 2 October, 2018

- Sample to PCR Training Workshop, KRISP and ThermoScientific Workshop, KRISP-Thermo lab, Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine, University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa, 6 July, 2018

We have also produced two short videos that shows the state-of-art training and laboratory facilities in Durban, South Africa.
