Once again, this three-day conference hosted at the Durban ICC did not disappoint, attracting delegates and exhibitors from over 30 African countries and beyond. Most encouraging was the collective emphasis on innovation and the need to focus Africa's efforts in harnessing the untapped resources and scientific discoveries that the continent still has to offer.
- The inter-ministerial panel chaired by the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Nzimande around the need to enable innovation in Africa;
- The address by the Minister of Health, Dr Zweli Mkhize concerning the impending implementation of the NHI and;
- The opportunity provided to KRISP's Prof. Tulio de Oliveira to announce the launch of BioDurban at the Industry Blockbuster Announcement Session on Day One.
Thanks to our partners, TIA, our exhibition stand was in a prime position and saw a steady flow of interested delegates, both in the services offered by KRISP (showcased in our new sales brochure) and in the BioDurban initiative. Names and contact details of interested participants were collected and an information session to build on this interest is scheduled to happen soon.
As part of the convention, KRISP also conducted walking tours of our facilities again, courtesy of Dr Veron Ramsuran, which created much interest around potential research and business partnerships in the future.
